What is ITIL?
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) is a series of documents that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management (ITSM). This framework defines how Service Management is applied within specific organizations. Being a framework, ITIL can be adapted for application within any type of business or organization that has a reliance on IT infrastructure.
All IT Staff are strongly encouraged to take the ITIL Foundation course, which is available for free via our Computer-Based Training subscription. This official ITIL Foundation certification course is designed as an introduction to ITIL and enables you to understand how an integrated IT Service Management framework can be utilized to achieve IT business integration, cost reductions and increased productivity. The course prepares you for the examination leading to the Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management. Participants can optionally purchase an ITIL® Foundation exam, which EXIN will provide at a reduced rate. The exam is 60-minutes with 40 multiple-choice questions (approximately $300).
How much does it cost?
The course fee is covered by the IT Service Management team via an annual subscription service. To achieve the ITIL Foundation Certification, participants must separately purchase the ITIL® Foundation exam (approximately $300), which EXIN will provide at a reduced rate.
Who should register for the course?
If you have a part (big or small) in identifying, planning, delivering and supporting IT services, we strongly encourage you to get ITIL Foundation certified. Not only will this help all IT staff understand their role in IT Service Management at UCSF, it will also benefit you as an IT professional world-wide.
